George Harrison "Dark Horse" cassette tape
Where to begin. I mean, this album is complicated. George was on drugs and drinking too much and he and his wife were cheating on each other. He was losing his spiritual practice but was also still very close with Ravi Shankar. He was just a couple years removed from his spectacular solo debut. But this album kind of confused everyone. The title track was a modest hit and is a lovely song. “Ding Dong, Ding Dong” was as simple as it seems and lovely but also an odd choice for a single. There’s a great cover of “Bye Bye Love.” And then there’s George trying to figure out the meaning of life. During the tour for this album, George lost his voice and basically let Ravi Shankar headline. People were furious. But, if you love George, you have to love all of George. Tape in very good vintage condition.
