The songs, playing and singing still get through, though, because the Thompsons were that great. Very stripped down. Subdued. Wistful. And plainly beautiful. The highlight is probably "For Shame of Doing Wrong" wherein they sing “I wish I was a fool for you again.” Wow. Cassette in very good vintage condition. Also, one of the great cover portraits of all time.
